Frequently asked questions about NCT
Is NCT the same as National Childbirth Trust?
Yes. In January 2008 we changed our name to NCT and upgraded our logo. However, many people still refer to us as the National Childbirth Trust.
What does NCT do?
NCT is the UK's leading charity on pregnancy, birth and early parenthood - we're with parents all the way from bump to baby. Each year we support over 100,000 parents through an incredible life changing experience, offering information and practical and emotional support through 300 UK-wide branch networks and we campaign for better maternity care.
Where are you based?
Our Head Office is in Acton but members are organised into over 300 branches across the UK. Each branch is run by volunteers and offers services, activities and opportunities for new parents to meet other parents.
What is your position on…?
We have set position statements on many pregnancy, birth and early parenthood related issues. We also provide press statements on recent or new items which can be found in our press release section.
Can you comment on….?
We can offer general comment on most pregnancy, birth and parenthood related issues. Our qualified spokespeople are always available for interview. And furthermore, if we can’t help you we will endeavour to pass you the details of someone who can.
Who are your spokespeople?
Our main spokespeople are our Chief Executive, Head of Research & Information, President and Head of Policy & Campaigns. We also have a host of NCT antenatal teachers, breastfeeding counsellors and postnatal leaders who will be happy to talk about relevant subjects. If you are interested in speaking to an NCT expert, please contact us and we will find you the right person for your subject matter.
How can I arrange an interview?
All requests for interviews should be directed through the NCT Press Office in the first instance. We have a dual band ISDN line in our London office on which we can offer radio interviews. We can also set up filming at our NCT antenatal classes, drop-ins, Bumps n Babies, by prior arrangement. For all filming requests, please complete the NCT Broadcasters Request Form (PDF 18KB).
Do you have any case studies?
NCT has a host of case studies, from parents-to-be to new parents, who have had a range of personal experiences and are happy to talk to the media. All requests for case studies should go through the NCT Press Office, and not the local branches, so they can be handled more quickly and effectively.
