Campaign to end child poverty
NCT is a member of the Campaign to End Child Poverty.
Why we want to end child poverty
"We all want the best for our children, but for many parents, right here in the UK, poverty is a day to day reality. The NCT is proud to be a member of the Campaign to End Child Poverty because life in poverty puts undue pressure on parents and family life. We believe that all parents should have equal opportunities to provide for their children. Today, 30% of children in Britain are living in
poverty."
- 30% of children in the UK are living in poverty
- The birth weight of a baby born in the two lowest social class groups is on average 130 grams lower than the national average.
- Before reaching his second birthday a child living in poverty is likely to show a lower level of attainment than a better off child
